PALM SPRINGS MID-CENTURY - LITTLE BEVERLY HILLS
This 1958 mid-century modern Palmer + Krisel-designed Alexander home, located in the center of downtown Palm Springs’ historic Ramon Rise neighborhood, was purchased in a state of disrepair, with a host of inappropriate “remuddles” made through the years. The hidden gem was renovated and restored with careful attention to period architectural detail. A wood paneled apartment was re-designed to function as one of two master suites, featuring an all new master bath and twin walk-in closets. The renovation also included a brand new pool, all new kitchen, re-surfaced micro-coated concrete floors, central AC w/ dual zone control, three all-new bathrooms, and new floor to ceiling windows and sliders that open to the large backyard. The large, newly landscaped drought-tolerant property features outdoor lighting, an automatic water system, and a new exterior layout and hard-scape that maximizes space for lounging, entertaining and enjoying the mountain views.

Logotype, branding identity, and packaging graphics for Garden Music Herbs and Garden Music Veggies, two companion lines of plants sold side by side in garden centers. The Herb Line is color-coded by category to identify the potential use of each herb. Categories include Aromatic Herbs, Culinary Herbs, Health and Beauty Herbs, etc. The approach to the water-resistant packaging was to create a clean and simple look that would stand out and be easily recognized in the garden center.
AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS - JULIA MORGAN
Julia Morgan poster and announcement for the third annual Julia Morgan Colloquium, an educational seminar for professionals on the noted architect sponsored by the American Institute of Architects. When folded, the translucent vellum announcement cleverly creates a multi-layer effect, revealing an architectural rendering through a portrait of the architect. Unfolded the poster features the architect, her work, and pertinent information about the seminar. This piece received recognition from the Art Director’s Club of Los Angeles, The American Institute of Graphic Artists, and is held in the permanent collection of the Library of Congress.
BEVERLY CENTER - CALIFORNIA WELCOME CENTER
A three-sided kiosk and series of billboards, banners, and posters installed in the Beverly Center, an upscale shopping center located in Southern California. The campaign was designed to promote the California Welcome Center, a free travel and entertainment resource located on the street level of the busy shopping center. The approach was to create a campaign that would stand out in the visually dense environment and encourage shoppers to go downstairs to take advantage of the free resource.

Branding, logo, identity and packaging for a florist committed to handmade bespoke flower arrangements and bouquets. The tagline “flowers for everyone” reflects the designer’s commitment to a custom and personalized approach to each project. The project included enclosures, thank you cards, and gift packaging.
BODY BY BOOTCAMP
Logo for an outdoor workout for women that is rugged yet spirited and fun. The approach conveys the free spirit of the workout that takes place under the blue sky, amidst the flowers, grass, and trees. The look is feminine, earthy, and fashionable – a deliberate visual departure from the ubiquitous and generic combat look used by so many bootcamps. The logo was applied to t-shirts, hats, hoodies, nalgene bottles, canteens, exercise matts, vans, duffle bags and back packs.
BOSTON: A CENTURY OF RUNNING

A 256 page, hardbound book commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Boston Marathon. More than 200 historical and contemporary photos were combined with chronological text to tell the story of this historical event. Black and white photos were printed as multi-color quadtones and collaged in a manner reminiscent of a scrapbook.
MODERN BUNGALOW
This 3 bedroom / 1 bath property was re-envisioned as a live-work space. A property with years of deferred maintenance, the bungalow was in need of considerable repairs, design improvements and upgrades. New electrical, heating and plumbing were added, as well as a new kitchen, master bathroom and closet, roof, rain gutters, hardwood floors, and paint. The garage was converted into an office space; the yard was re-landscaped and re-configured to add privacy and to provide a separate entrance to the office. A modern bungalow design approach was chosen to unify the home’s eclectic charm. This home was featured in the Los Angeles Times.

The catalog is divided into product categories – each section beginning with a dramatic full page illustration depicting the product category.

This dilapidated traditional one-story property was renovated in a classic yet modern and contemporary manner. The approach was simple, yet comprehensive. The renovation included a new gourmet kitchen, new double-pane windows, new designer paint, refinished floors, new baths, and a new master suite. The interior was designed, furnished and accessorized to reflect the classic-yet contemporary and relaxed lifestyle. The exterior was repainted and re-landscaped.

COLLECTIVE WELLBEING / DAVIES GATE
Logotype, branding identity, and product packaging for Collective Wellbeing, a 42 sku product line of organic + sulfate-free face, body, and hair products. Available nationwide, customers can choose from a variety of six charities to receive a portion of the purchase. The look was designed to be clean and simple, yet upscale and sophisticated. The three product categories, face, body, and hair, are color-coded to easily identify each product’s use.
HISTORIC CRAFTSMAN
This historical 1908 Craftsman property had years of deferred maintenance and historically inappropriate remodels. The design approach to the historic restoration was to bring the house back to its original historical heritage enhanced with modern amenities. The restoration included paint stripping and re-staining wood, extensive fine mill work, a new kitchen, historically correct lighting fixtures, hardware and paint palette, as well as new and refinished hardwood floors, replacement of windows and doors, plaster repair, upgraded electrical and plumbing, and a new roof. The approach to the furnishings and accessories was an eclectic mix of old and new. The house was featured in Old House Interiors.

Award-winning branding, identity and website for an international interiors and architecture firm that specializes in hospitality. The mandate from the client was to create something that people stopped to look at when received. Three colors of paper were laminated together and debossing and engraving were used to create an architectural look and 3-dimensional quality.
CRANE & CO PERSONALIZED STATIONERY
A line of stationery templates developed to enable retail customers to create custom personalized stationery. Available at fine stationery stores, a library of “mix + match” design elements was developed that included typography, color, layout, and liner papers. The Fashion-Forward elements were developed to be combined in the manner of choice by the customer and to be printed on fine Crane & Co. papers. The designer-stationery was printed using the techniques of letterpress and engraving.

This indoor/outdoor desert-modern home was fully renovated and was designed to take advantage of iconic mountain views from both the front and back. This architecturally sophisticated contemporary was reconfigured to include 3 en-suite bedrooms and baths and features a brand new master suite addition. The bathrooms feature contemporary fixtures, finishes, and designer ceramic tile. The renovation included an open kitchen design and walls of glass that take advantage of the mesmerizing views. Great for entertaining indoors and out, the renovation included a new pool and spa, an outdoor dining area and fireplace, updated electrical, and plumbing, and a large laundry/utility room. The interior also features a sleek newly-tiled fireplace, refinished concrete floors, and new carpet. The landscape creatively combines a drought tolerant and low maintenance desert xeriscape with grass and features automatic irrigation and dramatic outdoor lighting.

A series of community outreach brochures for the Southern California electric utility designed to bring awareness of Edison’s involvement in and contributions to the community. The series of three brochures feature case studies that depict the many ways that Edison gives back to the community.
FLOWERPOT PRODUCTIONS
Logo, brand identity, and website for Flowerpot productions, an artist management company and producer of world music programs for diverse venues across the country. The logo was designed to represent the namesake of the company and its efforts in growing new creative talent. The look is vibrant, energetic and modern. The website splash screen opens with flash animated leaves growing in from the bottom and filling the screen.

A 192-page full color book chronicalling a talented and promising teen who suddenly died two weeks before his high school graduation. The book is a visual survey of how a community pulled together and transformed grief into a raw and compelling collection of artwork and prose. Branding, identity, logo, online and offline advertising, marketing materials, and interactive for the Los Angeles Center for Women’s Health, a comprehensive state-of-the-art women’s health facility in downtown Los Angeles. Founded on the mission to enhance the health and wellbeing of women in the prime of their lives, the nationally-recognized physicians and health care team provide a comprehensive integrated range of services individualized to specific patient needs. The multi-faceted facility treats women’s unique needs with the highest-quality care – all-in-one place and under-one-roof – in a calm and comfortable environment.
The Los Angeles Center for Women’s Health icon is the Lotus flower. A symbol of purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration and rebirth. Its characteristics align with the core mission of the Los Angeles Center for Women’s Health.

Book cover and spreads from Made in Japan, a 108 page book that looks at the Japanese transistor radio and explores how it became a reflection of American pop culture of the period. The book explores the design elements of the radios that emulated everything from coffee shop architecture to automotive design and op art and captures what makes the transistor radio special. This book was featured on the cover of The New York Times Book Review.

Logo, brand identity, and website for Madeline Stuart – a nationally acclaimed residential and commercial interior designer and furniture designer. The concept was to create and identity that was contemporary yet classic, elegantly simple and timeless. An easily navigated site was created to showcase the designer’s work and her aesthetic. The Products section serves as an online catalog that includes a Downloadable Printable Product Specification for more than 40 products from the Madeline Stuart Collection.

The title of the book, Majestic Metropolitan Living, neatly sums up it's raison d'etre – to showcase jaw-dropping urban homes. There are no sprawling suburban McMansions within the pages of this wide, square book, but rather a carefully curated selection of oversized city interiors, complete with detailed essays about each space. Bold type and large photos capture the essence of the majestic spaces.

Sold in Papyrus stores nationwide, a sampling from a series of cards and gift wrap for various holidays and occasions. The cards incorporate die-cuts, pop-ups and accordian folds. Several fun and festive patterns were created for gift wraps and gift bags that would be suitable for both male and female markets.
MARIE TODD - JEWELRY AND SPECIALTY PRODUCTS
Branding, identity, interactive, packaging, and product design for jewelry designer and manufacturer of home fragrance products. The project included development of 3 lines of candles and diffusers: MTodd Men’s; Mind, Body, Spirit; and Elements. The project also included design and development of sustainable, recyclable, and reusable packaging – metal with cork inserts and fabric gift wrap.
MID-CENTURY MODERN TREEHOUSE
Built in 1961, this 3-bedroom mid-century modern view property had been neglected and remodeled in ways insensitive to its architectural heritage. The property was remodeled with careful attention to architectural detail and included foundation and structural upgrades, an all-new kitchen, new appliances, new baths, and a reconfigured floor plan that introduced a great room opening to the deck’s striking views. Period details included wood beam / tongue and groove ceilings, new sustainable cork floors, new interior and exterior lighting, and drought tolerant landscaping that was designed to complement and improve the functionality of the property’s 11,280 sf park-like grounds. With verdant views from almost every window, the completely remodeled mid-century modern tree house was furnished and accessorized with a mix of vintage classics and contemporary classics.

MIZU GREEN TEA BEVERAGE
Logo, branding identity, product naming, and packaging graphics for a green tea beverage steeped with the exotic flavors of tangerine, yuzu, lime, and fig. The packaging graphics are light, minimal, understated and clean to reflect the light and refreshing nature of the product. Mizu means water in Japanese.
MONROVIA
Brand identity, packaging, point-of-purchase materials, online and print advertising, website and ecommerce site for Monrovia, one of the largest plant growers in the nation, since 1926.
A company rich in tradition and heritage, Monrovia is built on a commitment to quality, integrity, environmentalism and care. The logo, tagline, and overall identity was designed to convey these ideals in a warm, friendly, timeless, and environmentally conscious manner.
The branding identity was created to easily identify and differentiate Monrovia plants from others in the retail garden centers. The Monrovia green-banded pot can be spotted from clear across the garden center, amidst the sea of otherwise unidentified plants in plain black pots.
An in-store retail nursery marketing and merchandising campaign was established to increase visibility of the Monrovia brand in the garden center. In-store plant display systems were developed to promote various garden collections that were supported by free take-home instructional brochures for the consumer. The in-store point-of-purchase campaign was designed to sell more plants in the garden center by increasing awareness of the brand and by establishing Monrovia as the garden information and inspiration expert committed to providing a superior product and support materials to ensure gardening success.

PALM SPRINGS MID CENTURY - SUNMOR
This 1958 mid-century Alexander Palmer + Krisel designed home, located in Sunmor Estates in Palm Springs was renovated and restored back to its original mid-century modern roots. The contemporary, yet period appropriate renovation, included new landscaping and hardscaping, an all-new kitchen, 3 new bathrooms, including a new master bath in the master suite. The trademark Alexander stone fireplace was restored, and a flex / bonus room was designed for use as an office, and pool-room. The dramatic walls of glass reveal stunning mountain views and open to a completely re-built pool, an outdoor shower, and new hardscape. The renovation included new paint inside and out, a new 200 amp panel, new floor coverings, polished micro-coated floors, and a new driveway that accommodates parking for multiple cars and guests for entertaining. Furnishings are an eclectic mix of vintage and contemporary classics.

Completed in 1960 by John Lawrence Pugsley AIA, this classic mid century is located in Pasadena’s coveted Linda Vista neighborhood. Perched above the Arroyo with expansive views, this architectural gem features walls of glass, a koi pond and fountain, a Japanese garden with outdoor shower, a dramatic atrium, and stunning stone work. The project included performing a mini renovation to bring it back to its mid century roots and to ready the property for sale. The project also included staging, marketing and selling the property.

Direct mail promotional print campaign for advertising photographer’s rep, Sally Bjornsen. Aimed at art directors, designers and other creatives, the pieces were designed to be eye catching and memorable keepsakes. The circle, Sally’s logo, was used as a creative motif, repeated in a different manner in each piece. Embossing, die-cutting, and interesting folding techniques all contribute to making these pieces special to promote the group of very special photographers.
SEIN OFF: THE FINAL DAYS OF SEINFELD

Impeccably restored historic Spanish Revival Estate sited in the hills just above Sunset Strip affords panoramic city views from Griffith Observatory to downtown and to the ocean. The approach was to create a conceptual parallel between the literal meaning of the boomerang (“it always comes back to you”) and the hard work, passion and related payoff that comes with athletic training.
